It’s an old book, archived by scans of the original print that are hard to read and a kindle version that is littered with typos. I’m pushing past these hurdles because I want to learn more about it and there are very few texts on the subject.
Psychometry or the study of the soul, memories, and feelings emitted from objects has always fascinated and sometimes scared me. I am drawn to things like vintage, antiques, and family heirlooms, but there have also been times where I’ve had to hastily leave an antique shop because I couldn't handle the particular energy of some of the objects and the present irreverence towards them. Because of this sensitivity, I naturally want to learn more about it.
William Denton was a geologist who based most of his research around the pursuit of projected images from the past present in stones and fossils. I believe the call and energy we can feel from crystals and stones is very much related.
I have my own vast array of trinkets and meaningful things that others would probably just cast aside, but I find value in. I have a collection of vintage jewelry that I’ve restored, childhood toys, a vintage scarf collection, used books, and many many stones and crystals. I feel like a lot of people look down on being overly attached to the material, minimalists for instance who are obsessed with the concept of less is more as if they can improve their lives in some way by limiting their exposure to only objects that “spark joy” in socially acceptable ways in order to assimilate into the perfect rendition of a societal fad. But my opinion on that is neither here nor there and I’m getting off track.
I’ve decided that psychometry and sentient objects will be the basis for my next tarot project. I have a clear vision for it but for now, it's just a daydream that must remain on the far back burner because I need to focus on more practical things.
